Loves the Sun

Cody grows plants in a greenhouse. In the coordinate plane, the greenhouse is an axis-aligned rectangle whose opposite corners are (0,0) and (W,H). Its entire top side, that is the segment y=H with 0≤x≤W, is a window through which sunlight enters.

Inside the greenhouse there are N shades, numbered from 1 to N.
